There simply is no substitute for a great book cover. Unfortunately, developing one is easier said than done. I have, in fact, had several artists propose covers for my upcoming novel, BRAT and the Kids of Warriors. But I simply didn’t think any of them got at what I was looking for.

Now, I’m honored to tell you, I have just retained what has to be one of the truly exceptional design teams. First, I had the great good fortune to meet Greg Samata. Over the last couple decades, he designed the annual reports for over four hundred of the Fortune 500 companies. This man knows how to communicate a message and a brand. His approach to the cover really surprised me. It involved pulling out key plot concepts in the book to symbolize on the cover, and a photo shoot that could have been a story in itself. We then needed an illustrator to put the whole cover together.

Samata then said, “Why don’t we get the guy who did the cover of Hunger Games?”

It was a long shot, but when Tim O’Brien heard what the book was all about, he agreed to take on the challenge.

The cover should be done in about a week.

Stay tuned.
